FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION:
Who is an Administrator ?

ANSWER:
The administrator is appointed by the Court in intestacy cases. Upon the intestate’s death (leaving no Will), someone will apply to the court for letters of administration and the persons granted such letters are called administrators. Letters of administration will not be granted to more than 4 persons. Usually the administrators are next-of-kin. If there are no relatives, then the creditors of the deceased may be appointed as the administrators.
